He was the organizer of the Cancel Cassini Campaign (the Cassini Campaign was a project that launched 72 pounds of plutonium into space in 1997) which drew enormous support and media coverage around the world. In 2006 he was the recipient of the Dr. Benjamin Spock Peacemaker Award, and in 2010 Gagnon was extensively featured in the award-winning documentary called Pax Americana and the Weaponization of Space. His book, called Come Together Right Now: Organizing Stories from a Fading Empire, was republished in 2008. Gagnon’s articles have appeared in many publications and he writes a popular blog called Organizing Notes. For some background for this week’s interview, read Blueprint for World Domination: The US Space Program and its Military Industrial Complex, The Sword and the Shield: Surround Russia and China with Mobile “Missile Defense” Systems, Environmental Catastrophe: US Naval Base on Jeju Island, South Korea, and What Could Truly End the Space Program? Good on both of you. I was briefly oriented by Dr. Caldicott years ago for PSR and co-wrote the position paper on the civilian-military contingency hospital system. I met Bruce earlier this summer at his annual conference at Raytheon/Merrimack.
