In this episode of If You Love This Planet, Dr. Caldicott talks with conservation biologist Dr. Reese Halter.
Dr. Reese, as he is known, is a distinguished biologist who describes himself as an “Earth Doctor.” For more that 20 years, Dr. Reese has studied nature in both hemispheres. He currently teaches at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. Dr. Reese founded Global Forest Science, a conservation institute which educates children about ecology. Read the Sierra Club magazine’s review of the book here. Dr. Reese and Dr. Caldicott look at the importance of forests in reducing global warming, and how trees are increasing dying from bark beetle infestations caused by higher temperatures. They also address why our survival depends on saving endangered bees. For background, read Dr. Reese’s January 6 article Climate change and bark beetles equal billions of dead trees.
